Reading this country reference

The recommended line order shows how major address components are commonly arranged for postal processing. It does not replace the exact address supplied by the recipient. Building names, apartment identifiers, departments, districts and local scripts can require additional lines. Keep all delivery-relevant information and follow the cited operator when a current instruction differs from the example.

The postal-code position describes its relationship to the city or locality. Spaces, hyphens and letter case can be part of customary display. Store the code as text and preserve the original value even when a normalized version is used for comparison.

What the checker tests

The first result applies the documented national pattern when one is active. The second asks whether the normalized code appears in ZipCodeGlobe’s active GeoNames snapshot. These are independent questions. A code can match the pattern but be absent from the snapshot, or appear in the snapshot while a curated pattern is temporarily unavailable.

“Found” does not certify a building or recipient. Open the postal result to review every associated place, source date and administrative value. Shared codes are normal and should never be collapsed to one arbitrary record.

Completing the rest of the address

Confirm recipient, delivery point, street or route, unit, locality, administrative area and country. Do not use a nearby coordinate to invent missing street information. For post-office boxes, campuses or high-volume organisations, retain the specialised delivery details the recipient provides.

When sending internationally, place the country on the final line according to origin and destination guidance. Customs content, value and restrictions are separate from the address and require their own accurate declaration.

Using the format in software

Country selection should load the appropriate labels and rule without applying it to other countries. Validation should return a reason, normalized value and source status. Keep the server-rendered form functional without JavaScript. In APIs and CSV files, return postal codes as strings and include country explicitly.

Do not automatically rewrite the customer’s address. Offer a suggestion and let the customer or trained operator confirm. Record source and validation date for important workflows.

Limits of geographic data

Postal assignments are operational identifiers rather than guaranteed legal boundaries. A place coordinate can be a representative point, and several points can share a code. Do not use the result alone for tax jurisdiction, voting, school catchments, emergency services or proof of residence. Select an authoritative boundary or identity source for those tasks.

Distance and nearby tools provide approximate geographic context only. Carrier routes and service zones can differ greatly from straight-line proximity.

Source and update policy

The format record has an explicit source and checked date. Administrators review changes independently from the postal snapshot. If research becomes uncertain, the record can be disabled and the page will say that the format is not verified rather than inventing certainty.

Postal imports are versioned, resumable and activated only after checks. Corrections remain separate from licensed raw fields until reviewed. This allows users to understand what came from the source and what came from editorial research.

When to verify elsewhere

Use the national postal operator or an authorised address product for current delivery-point confirmation, especially for new developments, regulated mail and expensive shipments. Carrier tools are also required for serviceability, price and delivery-date promises. ZipCodeGlobe is a transparent global reference and utility, not a government or carrier certification service.

If the page appears incomplete or incorrect, submit a correction with a non-sensitive source reference. Do not include private recipient details in the public correction workflow.
